Today’s Mantra : I Am Never Alone
Today’s mantra :
Remembering that I am never alone.
I often slip into this narrative of thought that I need to be the sole proprietor of everything in my life.
Deep seated limiting beliefs : “I can handle these myself.”
Big ass projects that are literally 20 feet long that I cant physically move: “I’d rather struggle and find a solution on my own then take the easy way out.”
Getting smacked with a big tax bill unexpectedly: I’ll figure this out on my own, even though I have a network that I can collaborate with to raise money.”
I begin to adopt this belief of myself that asking for help will take away from the quality of life that I’m creating.
If I ask for help then:
- It feels like I wasn’t good enough to it on my own.
- I question if the end result will be up to my standards and have to do alone anyways
- I fear that I will shame and guilt for needing help and burdening someone else.
These narratives may feel real, but they are not the truth.
In fact, these are absolute dog shit views of myself and the world.
Here’s the truth:
Whether you like it or not, your reality is a co-creation.
Do you think that you can take ownership of the millions of tiny experiences that you somehow found yourself in that silently led you to be as you are today?
I certainly had some of that audacity, even in my days of being a dirty barefoot spiritual hippie
(aside: still spiritual, maybe less dirty now, barefoot sometimes, but much more collaborative with society than a hippie)
I can take ownership and radical responsibility of many many things in my life to re-claim my power, but to think that you are completely alone and are not provided for or guided in some small perhaps mystical way from time to time is absurd.
You are never alone.
The not-so-secret sauce I’ve found to this game of life is learning to open my heart to this co-creation.
I can still be
- disciplined
- devoted
- sovereign
- responsible
- all the things
While still allowing space to step out of my ego of needing to do this alone so I can see all the ways that capital L Life is co-creating with me.
When you go beyond your small idea of self and open towards a more vulnerable and expansive narrative, there Life collaborates the most deeply and radically with you.
That’s where I co-created my version of success. Its also where I learned to constantly evolve my version of success.
Right now,
Success to me is :
- Living, Ranching, and Farming a magical piece of Coastline
- Designing and building Architecture, furniture, and sculpture to make $$$
- Chatting with oldtimers 3x my age every morning at the coffee shop
- Spending intimate time with my wife at any part of the day
- Surfing my brains out when it’s good
And tomorrow?
Perhaps success is having the freedom to pack it all up and try elsewhere, but who knows.
All I know is that Success is an inside-job and to get there, we have to ask for help along the way and remember that we are never alone and that we don’t have to do this journey alone.
